Kingston Primary School – Ofsted Report Summary (November 2023)

In November 2023, Kingston Primary School was inspected by Ofsted and judged Outstanding in all areas, reflecting the exceptional education, care and opportunities provided for pupils.

A School Where Pupils Thrive

Pupils at Kingston show remarkable pride, confidence and enthusiasm for school life. They understand and embrace the “Kingston way”, which helps them become considerate, motivated and resilient learners. Behaviour across the school is exemplary and pupils approach their learning with maturity and determination.

From the earliest years, children learn simple, consistent expectations - such as using “kind hands and feet”—which evolve as they grow to promote responsibility and empathy. Older pupils can become school ambassadors, acting as positive role models and contributing to the wider school community.

Exceptional Teaching and Curriculum

The school offers a rich, ambitious and well‑sequenced curriculum that ensures all pupils build strong knowledge and skills from Reception through to Year 6. Teachers and support staff work highly effectively together, using precise assessment and strong subject expertise to ensure every child achieves exceptionally well.

Reading is a major strength:

  • Early reading and phonics are taught with rigour.
  • Pupils who need extra help receive prompt support.
  • As a result, children develop into confident, fluent readers.

Early Years Excellence

The Early Years team creates a nurturing, language‑rich environment where children are eager to learn. Highly skilled adults build trusting relationships, develop children’s independence and support them in managing their feelings and actions confidently.

Inclusion at Its Best

Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) flourish at Kingston. They access the full, ambitious curriculum alongside their peers, supported by staff who understand their needs deeply and adapt learning without reducing expectations.

Personal Development at the Heart of the School

The school places pupils’ personal growth at the centre of everything it does. Children leave Kingston with strong moral principles, empathy, self‑awareness and an understanding of their place in the wider world - preparing them exceptionally well for their next steps.

Leadership and Safeguarding

Leaders, trustees and governors work in strong partnership to drive continual improvement. Staff benefit from high‑quality professional development and feel valued and supported. Safeguarding is effective, with a positive culture that puts pupils' welfare first.
